Description: Chinese, late 19th or early 20th century, the red felted wool ground finely embroidered with a pair of dragons in gold metallic thread flanking a flaming pearl, surrounded by stylized clouds and waves, the top portion of the hanging embroidered with two phoenix, backed in cotton. 38"H. 107 1/2"W. Provenance: From the Estate of Waldemar Meckes, Cleveland, Ohio. Condition: a few tiny pin prick holes, one small 1" area of dragon outline snagged, generally very good.
