Description: 19th century, silver filigree and enamel handle, watercolor on paper with characters having applied painted ivory faces, presented in a custom gilt wood and gesso frame on stand.
DOA 15.5 x 22 in.
The consignor's grandfather, a naval officer assigned to Theodore Roosevelt's Great White Fleet, purchased this fan as a memento of the fleet's historic visit to Japan in 1908
