Description: An antique French Faience Ceramic compote, holding the mark of the Château Royal de Blois. Hand-painted enamel decoration with Queen Mary art motif. Has a central depiction of a Pelican opening her bosom for her young beneath a jeweled crown, with a large monogrammed "M", and a scrolled banner with Latin inscription reading "Te-git virtute minores". Bordered around the edges with scrolled rocaille decoration. Marked to the bottom "V Pysse, Blois, E. Baton". Made in Loire Valley, France circa 1880. Measures approx. 8-1/2" in diameter and sits approx. 4" H. Will not ship, we can refer local shippers.
