Description: APOLLO LUNAR MODULE LEG DEPLOYMENT SPRING
This is one of several springs designed to unfurl the LM's landing legs, using small explosive bolts to release the spring assembly.

This, like other major functional pieces of the Lunar Module, was never flown because all springs actually assigned to spaceflight were either jettisoned with the LMs into the Earth's atmosphere (Apollo 5, 9, 13), impacted the moon (Apollo 10), or were left on the moon with their descent stages (Apollo 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 17).
