Part One with 102 numbered plates engraved by Thierry or Hibon showing plans, interior views, architectural elevations and cross-sections (some double-page), and 6 expansive views engraved by Bence and Thierry (most bi- and tri-fold). Part Two with 72 plates and plans (69 numbered and three additional plates). Folio, 19th-century 1/2 purple morocco-backed boards, spines dry and rubbed, scuffing, bump to fore edge of Vol. 1 affecting very outer edge of some leaves; hinges professionally reinforced, scattered foxing. Notes: first editions. Gauthier was awarded the grand prix of the Academie des Beaux-Arts in 1810. These works on the buildings of Genoa appear to be his only published book. [Brunet II, 1506].
