Description: ARMY & NAVY CSL, LONDON,
AN 1827 PATTERN BRITISH NAVAL SWORD MARKED TO THE ROYAL NAVAL RESERVE, serial no. 10938,
circa World War One, with slightly curved Wilkinson type 31 1/2in. blade etched for the majority of its length with arabesque panels of scrolls, the centre of the right hand side with a Royal Crest, the left with a fouled anchor surmounted with a King''s crown (some mild staining and discolouration throughout), the forte with ''ARMY & NAVY COOPERATIVE SOCIETY, 105 VICTORIA ST, LONDON'', the reverse with inlet proof mark, the back edge with ''MADE IN ENGLAND'' and the serial number, gilded brass gothic half-basket hilt (gilding worn) with moulded King''s crown and fouled anchor device applied with the letters ''R.N.R.'', the pommel carved with a lions head, white wire-bound sharkskin grip and fold-down inner guard, together with its brass mounted black leather scabbard (leather shrunk, centre mount loose)
