[ AUSTRALIAN / ABORIGINAL ART ] FREDDY TIMMS (1944 - ) Clarrie Springs Country, 2001 natural earth pigments on linen 122 x 135 cm E7000-9000 Provenance: Jirrawun Aboriginal Art Corporation. Short Street Gallery, Broome FT82001123. Private Collection, Melbourne. This painting is sold with the original Short Street Gallery certificate. Clarrie Springs is in the north of Bow River Station. The black at the top of the image represents high country where water from a permanent spring drops down between two big hills. The black at the bottom right us the home of Yarrelali, the spirit woman. Yarrelali is said to be beautiful and dangerous. The black circle represents a small hill which was night watch area during mustering. The red on the left shows the hills going to Adavale where cattle were taken through to the meatworks in Wyndham.
