[ AUSTRALIAN / ABORIGINAL ART ] MAGGIE WATSON NAPANGARDI (CIRCA 1925 - 2004) Digging Sticks at Mina Mina Salt Lakes, Tanami Desert, 1996 synthetic polymer paint on canvas 175 x 95 cm E25000-30000 Provenance Private Collection, Melbourne. Maggie Watson Napangardi, began painting in 1985 and was best known for her paintings associated with the Digging Stick Dreaming which begins at Mina Mina. Here she depicts the Digging Stick Women collecting native foods while traveling from Mina Mina to Alcoota. Later they travel beyond the boarders of their Warlpiri home country moving further and further toward the east visiting waterhole after waterhole on their epic journey.
