JOSE MARIA JORGE - 'Per Prima Volta'; An original painting depicting Luigi Chinetti in the pits at Le Mans in 1949. In this historic event, Chinetti drove a Ferrari 166MM (chassis number 008), which was entered by Lord Selsdon, for an incredible 22 hours. Not only was this Ferrari's first participation at Le Mans but it resulted in overall and class victories for the marque and the beginning of an enduring legacy. Oil on canvas, signed by the artist, undated and unmounted. Recently composed thus 'as new' except for staple marks to the border from previous display. 47.5 x 33.5in (120 x 85cm)
