Description: Basilius Besler (1561-1629)
HYACINTHUS EROTINUS MAXIMUS; SPATULA FOETIDA; VALERIANA RUBRA
Three hand-colored engravings, from Hortus Eystettensis, Eichstatt and Nuremberg, 1613-circa 1750.
Sight of each sheet approximately 19 1/2 x 16 1/2 inches; 495 x 419 mm.

Condition Report: Lightstain and matstain, some unobtrusive rippling, some foxing, soiling, other discoloration and creasing, VALERIANA RUBRA with some tears at sheet edges (longest 1 1/4 inches), a few nicks at sheet edges, a few losses at bottom right sheet edge skillfully replaced with Japan paper (largest 1 5./8 x 3/8 inch), an old paper hinge at bottom sheet edge recto, some of the text faded, HYACINTHUS ERONTIUS MAXIMUS with two 1/8 inch tears at bottom sheet edge. Otherwise in apparently good condition (one unexamined out of the frame).
