Description: A beautiful Roman blue glass flask, Eastern Mediterranean, c. 5th Century AD, the inverted ovoid body with narrow foot and indented base, the tall cylindrical neck with lightly flared mouth and inward folded rim, a pair of loop handles to either side. The neck of the flask is decorated in wound threading in the same color of the body, nicely placed, the silvery iridescence giving the thread the appearance of silver wire! H: 7 in (17.8cm). A very nice example with mottled surface deposits and light iridescence. Ex Donald Brown Collection, Massachusetts, formed in the 1960's.
