Book Details: Benjamin Keach (1640-1704): important Particular Baptist preacher, author, and ardent defender of Baptist principles. Often in prison and frequently in danger for preaching the Gospel, he was the first to introduce singing hymns in the worship of English congregations. This work was very popular during the 18th and 19th centuries.
Condition / Notes: This antique 16mo volume has plain paper-covered boards, leather remaining on the front fore-edge corner, and a leather backstrip. The front board is separated, with heavy rubbing, chipping, toning, and moisture marking to the exterior. The text block is solid. The frontispiece portrait engraving depicts Keach. The pages show moderate to heavy age toning and scattered foxing and moisture marking. The work includes several textual engravings.
