The design of the girl's dress incorporates sickle and wheat emblems . . . appropriate to the subject (Rennert/Weill, p. 113). This is a variant in which the usual calendar has been replaced by the Gaufrette Vanille brand tip-on, winner of the top prize that year at the World's Fair.
