Description: Heavily carved case the shape of a house standing on a three-side base and decorated with oak leaves. The roof is terminated with removable decoration including a finely-carved squirrel perched on top. Trap door to the upper front wall hides the cuckoo. Ivory-carved hands and numerals. Two-wing door under the dial opens every full hour and out steps the trumpeter. Spring brass skeleton clock, anchor escapement, pendulum, three springs; strikes quarters on two spiral gongs. Cuckoo's door opens in the same intervals. Polychrome wood cuckoo peeps out moving its wings. Its sound is produced by two wood pipes attached to bellows (two metal pipes also for the trumpeter) Carved wood bracket not matching. Black Forest around 1880, height 73 cm (115 cm incl. the bracket). Woodworm traces, minor parts lacking. Condition 2
