Description: (Borde, C.). Parapilla, poëme, et autres oeuvres libres et galantes. Florence, Paperini (= Lyon, Faucheux(?)), 1782, XV,(3),124p., handcol. engr. frontisp. and 10 plates (5x handcol. after BOREL), in 20th cent. gilt full green morocco w. gilt inner dentelles by E. HOTAT ET FILS, a.e.g., slipcase, sm. 8vo. - Occas. trifle yellowed/ foxed, otherwise a fine copy. The fine engravings, especially the six very skilfully coloured images by Borel, do explicit justice to the poem's subject: they show flying phalli approaching and entering various delighted ladies (including the usual nun) and, on the frontispiece, a group of naked women worshipping an altar carrying a large and pink male organ. Our copy of this clandestinely printed and reprinted work contains both the six Borel-engravings called for in several editions, and the five other prints present in other editions, each of which has a one-line engraved caption below the image. SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE XXXIX.
