29in. nitro chopperlump barrels, ribs gold-inlaid ''1'' and 2'' at the breech ends, and re-engraved with acanthus scroll detailing and ''BOSS & CO, 73, ST. JAMES''S STREET LONDON'', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. in all, wall thicknesses below recommended minimum, toplevers gold-inlaid ''1'' and ''2'', automatic safeties with gold-inlaid ''SAFE'' details, gold-inlaid cocking-indicators (No.2 tumblers blued), Boss 1894 improved patent single-triggers, rolled-edge triggerguards, No.1 gun double bite with minor extension and left extractor broken at tip, ejector slides possible replacements, best fine acanthus scroll engraving with floral bouquets, retaining traces of colour-hardening and renewed finish, 15in. figured stocks including 1in. leather covered recoil pads, weight 6lb. 12oz., in their brass-cornered oak and leather case, the lid outer marked ''PENRY WILLIAMS. MIDDLESBOROUGH''


Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that this pair was completed for Penry Williams. Unfortunately no date is recorded but the serial numbers indicate a date of manufacture circa 1901-1905
