Fired clay. Pre-Columbian America, Nazca, Peru, approx. 200 to 400
Arched bottom, slightly curved wall and even rim. Encircling the wall exterior on white ground is the depiction of four birds, parrots according to their beaks. The painting is graphically effective with big circular eyes, tail feathers, crest and claws simplified to black lines, red fields in between. Interior of vessel and the bottom in earth-red tone, two grommets below the opening. The bowl is restorated.
