Pal (Bouteille de Bass et Verre sur une Table). Radierung auf chamoisfarbenem Arches-Velin. 46 x 33 cm (Plattenrand); 57 x 44 cm (Blattgröße). Signiert. Auflage 30 num. Ex. (1911/54). Vallier 9.
Ganz prachtvoller, kontrastreicher Druck mit dem vollen Rand. Insgesamt in sehr gutem Zustand. Braque gab dieser Radierung den Titel PAL nach der Bierflasche Pal Ale" im Zentrum der Komposition. Er schuf diese wunderschöne kubistische Arbeit bereits 1911, obgleich sie nicht vor 1945 veröffentlicht und erst 1954 von Maeght, Paris, herausgegeben wurde. Zwischen 1911 und 1912 schuf er eine Serie ähnlicher kubistischer Werke, deren Komposition ebenfalls aus einem Oval besteht: "With the format of the oval, I have found a sense of the horizontal and the vertical." (Braque in: Valleris, Cahiers d'Art, 1954, S. 16).
