Paris, Olympia Press, 1958 (im Kolophon: Dezember 1957). 1 Bl., 171 S., 2 Bl. 17,5 x 10,5 cm. Original-Broschur mit farbig illustriertem Original-Umschlag von T. (recte: Shinkichi) Tajiri . (Umschlag etwas beschabt, vorne mit vertikaler Knickspur, Block wie fast stets etwas schiefgelesen). Zweite Ausgabe des 1940 in New York in erster Fassung beendeten, dann nochmals in Big Sur, Kalifornien 1956 überarbeiteten freizügigen Romans. - Vgl. O'Roark Coll. A 181 (für die EA) - Das Buch belegt exemplarisch die einander ergänzende Zusammenarbeit von Literat und Photograph bei der Beschreibung der Pariser Bohème, deren Mitglieder ja meist, wie Miller und Brassai auch, von außerhalb kamen. Außerdem war das Buch einer der Meilensteine bei der Aufweichung der Zensur erotischer Literatur, nicht nur in Europa. In den USA konnte es erst 1965 erscheinen, in Deutschland kam es 1968 heraus. Der Titel wurde für erotische, umstrittene und indizierte Literatur in Deutschland so sprichwörtlich, dass Robert Neumann seine Parodie "Stille Tage in Klischee" nennen konnte. Eine der Töchter von Tajiri hat bestätigt, dass ihr Vater den Umschlag entworfen hat und es sich beim "T." für den Vornamen um einen Druckfehler handelt. - Innen papierbedingt gering gebräunt, insgesamt recht gut erhalten.
