Britains - Set 1458 - [Unlisted] Band of the Line - Middlesex Regiment [1936], comprising: Marching Drum Major & 17 x Marching Bandsmen playing various Instrumentation. All are depicted in Red Tunics with Yellow Facings. Some minor paint chips [mainly to bases] otherwise generally Excellent overall, contained [re-strung] in a generally Good [storage wear/ marks & some old repairs to lid edges] Whisstock "Types of the British Army - English Infantry" Scroll type [Green] label set box with stamped set number. Provenance: this set was purchased [with the next lot - 2706] as a special order from Gamages for Christmas 1938 by a then serving Officer of the Middlesex Regiment for his Son, they have remained within the extended family for the intervening 72 years spending the last 40 years or so in loft storage at various family properties. The figures have been loosely re-strung [by Vectis] in the original positions as found when unpacked, in order to prevent any further contact damage to the paint work. Set Ref: Opie GBoB page 294. Extraordinarily RARE, this being the first example to be offered by Vectis in its original box - a superb "fresh to the market" set in original condition.
