Britains [for Gamages] Set No.1461 [Unlisted] 41 piece British Infantry & Cavalry Display, 1938, comprising: From Set 77 - Middlesex Regiment Marching at the Slope, 1914 version - Officer Marching Empty Handed & 13 x Other Ranks Marching at the Slope. From Set 100 - 21st Lancers in Full Dress, 1925 version - Trumpeter [old repair to neck] on Grey Horse & 4 x Troopers with held Lances [Red over White Pennons] on Black/Brown Horses. From Set 201 - Officers of the General Staff, 1920 version - Mounted Field Marshal with Binoculars, Mounted General and 2 x Mounted Aide-De-Camps. From Set 1263 Royal Artillery Gun & Ammunition [1932 - First Issue]. Together with: Mounted Fixed Arm Officer, Walking Officer with Unfurled Union Flag & 14 piece [unlisted] DRUMS & BUGLES OF THE MIDDLESEX REGIMENT, comprising: Drum Major, Bass Drummer, 4 x Drummer Boys, 2 x Straight Arm Buglers & 6 x Bent Arm Buglers. All depicted in Full Trousers & with Yellow Facings. Some minor paint losses otherwise generally Excellent overall, contained [re-strung - inserts foxed from prolonged loft storage] in a generally Good [general storage wear & some old repairs/missing sections to lid edges] Two Tier Gamages [Orange "Model Toy Soldiers"] Label Display Box with "British Infantry & Cavalry Display No.1461" end label. Provenance: this set was purchased [with the previous lot - 2705] as a special order from Gamages for Christmas 1938 by a then serving Officer of the Middlesex Regiment for his Son, they have remained within the extended family for the intervening 72 years spending the last 40 or so years in loft storage at various family properties. The figures have been loosely re-strung [by Vectis] in the original positions as found when unpacked, in order to prevent any further contact damage to the paint work. Set Ref: Opie GBoB page 294. Possibly UNIQUE, this being to our knowledge the only known example containing the above described contents - another superb "fresh to the market" set in original condition.
