Edge: impressed JX.125752 W. IDDON P.O.TEL. H.M.S. MERCURY inscription. MY 218. 35.35 grams, 36mm diameter. . HMS Mercury was a shore establishment, the site of the Royal Navy Signals School (1941-1993), responsible for training generations of wireless telegraphers; as a Petty Officer Telegrapher, W. Iddon would have been on the training staff.
