Description: BRITISH SCHOOL
(17th-18th century)
PORTRAIT OF A GENTLEMAN, HALF-LENGTH
Oil on canvas
29 3/4 x 24 5/8 in. (75.6 x 62.5cm)
provenance:
Private Collection, Maryland.

Condition Report: the relined canvas in apparently generally good overall condition, though under u.v. light, the surface is difficult to accurately 'read' due to the prevalence of old varnish. There are some minor retouches visible under u.v. light, including to areas of background and minor retouching to parts of figure's face and hair

Descriptions provided in both printed and on-line catalogue formats do not include condition reports. The absence of a condition statement does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition or completely free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of aging. Interested bidders are strongly encouraged to request a condition report on any lots upon which they intend to bid, prior to placing a bid. All transactions are governed by Freeman's Conditions of Sale.
