Description: Bronze with gilding. Tibet, 17th to 18th cent.

This fierce protective deity features flaming hair, skull crown, diverse jewelry necklaces, as well as Garuda wings. She stands in stride on two reclining bodies, as well as on a lotus base. Hevajra, also called Heruka, is in sexual union with the yogini Nairatma, whose leg is swinging up ecstatically. Both are two-armed and holding respectively in the hands a skull bowl kapala and cleaver karttrka. On the back is a sealed closure; also the bottom is closed, inside presumably respectively with intact votive offerings. Partly powerful age patina, some preserved gilding.
