Assistant to the Egyptologist Auguste Mariette, Émile Brugsch became the assistant curator of the Boulaq Museum under Mariette and the Cairo Museum under Maspèro. He was an amateur photographer who specialized in reproducing museum objects and mummified remains. Images of Egyptian mummies in the exceptional quality offered here are extremely rare. - Some scuff marks, Ramses print slightly faded, otherwise with rich tones and in near excellent condition. - With: Images of Egyptian sculptures. 1880s. 1 sepia-toned gelatin silver print and 1 albumen print. 1 annotated in lower corner in ink, the other annotated in the negative (P. Sebah). Mounted to both sides of board.
