Description: Brugsch, Émile: Mummy of Seti I

Full mummy of Seti I, father of Ramses II. 1881. Albumen print. 23,8 x 18 cm. Annotated in pencil on the verso.
Assistant to the Egyptologist Auguste Mariette, Émile Brugsch became the assistant curator of the Boulaq Museum under Mariette and the Cairo Museum under Maspèro. He was an amateur photographer who specialized in reproducing objects of the museum and mummified remains. This is a rare full body image of the mummy of Seti I. - Minimal edge wear, otherwise in good condition. - With: Pascal Sebah. View of Hatscheput temple Deir el Bahari before excavation in 1893-1896. 1870s. Albumen print. 20,2 x 26 cm. Title and photographer's name in the negative in lower edge, mounted to board. - A dark print in very good condition.
