Description: Bamboo. China, Qing 19th cent.

Encircling raised relief in harmonious carving of a composition of tendrils with respective spiral ends. The forms remind somewhat of dragons and clouds. In the center is a stylized large blossom similar to a radiating sun symbol. The brush cup is a typical tool of Literati calligraphers, the material bamboo i.e. symbolic for "Wise Men in the Bamboo Grove" ... Very good condition.
