Description: Brussells verdue tapestry depicting the Rape of Europa

17th century

Depicting Europa upon the back of Zeus as the bull, her arm outstretched toward her companions, within a lush woodland setting with numerous trees, flowers etc., and a town in the background, within floral borders.

H: 9 ft 5, W: 13 ft 3 in.


Property of a Pennsylvania lady.

Condition Report: Several areas of restoration, numerous patches to burlap backing, some areas becoming threadbare, possibly reduced in size.
Row of hooks along top edge for hanging, no rod or sleeve.
