Description: Buffalo Bill Original Wild West. 1914 39.125 x 28in. U.S. Printing &Litho. Co., Cincinnati. Condition B-: repaired tears, creases and paper loss in margins and corners. An intense, attention-getting image of a Native American, in full color headdress and moccasins, kneeling and aiming down the barrel of his rifle; lettering in light blue. An inset profile photograph of Buffalo Bill in dark blue-and white. Much of the world's stereo typical view of Native Americans, as horse-back riding, feather clad warriors, can be traced back to Buffalo Bill's shows. "The fact is that most Indians in this country did not wear the elaborate feathered headdresses seen ... in all Buffalo Bill posters, but because Buffalo Bill used largely Sioux Indians [for his show] who did wear them, we have come to expect thatto be the standard for all Indians." (Buffalo Bill p. 12) A rare poster from Buffalo Bill's time with Sells-Foto. Not in Buffalo Bill.E2000-3000 [See Illustration Inside Front Cover]
