Description: 8th-10th century AD. A silver strainer comprising a square-section shank with opposed stamped triangles to the outer face; bulb finial with openwork plaque, stamped pellets and lozenges, loop above; similar finial to the lower end with discoid extension and shallow bowl with five piercings, flange stamped with bands of pellets, annulets, triangles and pelleted triangles. 67 grams, 18cm (7"). Property of a London gentleman; acquired in the 1980s. Supplied with a positive X-Ray Fluorescence metal analysis certificate.
