Description: 8th-10th century AD. A silver lid to a pyxis or reliquary in the shape of a pitched roof with ridged top and gable ends; equal-armed cross to the top engraved 'IC XC' on cross bars, and 'NI KA' on vertical bats, small dot-patterned cross to the centre; hinges to the rear and clasp to the front in the shape of a bird head with hooked beak and engraved eye and feather pattern. 20 grams, 57mm (2 1/4"). From a private collection; formed 1965-1975.
