c. 1840 mid-19th Century, Matched Pair of Patriotic Design Tea Cups & Saucers with American Eagles, likely Chinese Import, Choice Near Mint.
This beautiful matched pair of Patriotic American market tea cups with matching saucers appear to be Chinese import, around the mid-19th century. Made of bone china with a thick cobalt blue top border design having gold stars, gold outer pinstripes and gold top rim edge, together with a central Heraldic American Eagle with a red and white Shield, clutching an Olive Branch and Arrows in its talons. Fourteen tiny gold stars, are seen positioned above the Eagle's head. Each Cup measures 2.5" tall and 3.5" in diameter, Saucers are 5.5" in diameter. No makers marks. This set appears near mint with only a hint of minor wear to gold. Overall, these are in excellent condition for display. (4 items).
