Lot 125: c. 1845-1855 KENTUCKY LONG RIFLE MEXICAN WAR ERA
October 23, 2016
Mr. Pleasant, SC, USALive Auction
Description: We are very pleased to offer this complete & original 1845-1855 Kentucky long rifle musket, from the period of the Mexican War. This full stock Kentucky Rifle will micrometer between .50 and .60 Caliber, and features apparently original stock, workings, trigger assembly, but plate, and wooden ramrod. Condition of antique weapons fall into poor, fair, good & fine categories, and due to the surface wear, our example rates good. A good cleaning may definitely upgrade it to fine, as we see nothing except surface anomalies. This rifle is decorated, and antiques fall into either Plain, Finer, and Fancy, which requires at least (20) custom markings. Ours is definitely Finer with trigger guard embellishments, and a magnificent raised sinuous dragon on the left facure plate. 55 1/2" long. Wt. 14 pds
