Lot 472: C.D.F. DE BRUGES A BLANKENBERGHE (2 types)

Brussels, BelgiumLive Auction
Description: 1862, 1878 WEST-VLAANDEREN. BRUGES. 1. Action de F500, red, yellow & black, 1862. 2. Récépissé, black on blue paper, 1878. The 1862 share has several repaired tears. The first concession for the 13km link was given in 1853, but no line was built. A new concession was given in 1861, after the government decided to build a harbour at Blankenberghe. This company was formed in 1862, and issued 2000 shares of F500, and 2984 obligations, also of F500. The line was to carry holiday-makers in the summer season, but also fresh fish from the fishing-port of Blankenberghe, and other freight from the new harbour. In 1878 the company was in liquidation, and the line was transferred to the State. The liquidation certificates are rather well known but the 1862 share is extremely rare - only once before auctioned by us.
