Description: CARICATURE - George Wachsteter (1911-2004) Ink on Illustration Board for ABC Radio's highly popular morning showcase, 'Don McNeill's Breakfast Club', depicting Johnny Desmond and Patsy Lee as 'The Songbirds of the South', superimposed over sheet music with lyrics 'Good Morning to You' and a crowing rooster in corner, having pale blue background. McNeill's tenure as host of 'The Breakfast Club' from June 23, 1933 through December 27, 1968 makes him to date the longest-running emcee of a network entertainment program, outlasting Johnny Carson on 'The Tonight Show' (29 1/2 years) and Bob Barker on 'The Price Is Right' (34? years). Sketch appeared in The New York Journal American, circa 1949-1950, roughly 11" x 7" image on 15" x 11" board, good condition. Includes 8x10 glossy press photo of the drawing with original Young & Rubicam snipe.
