Valentino

Born in 1932 in Voghera, the later founder Valentino Garavani, studied already at the age of 17 fashion design in Paris. In 1959, he returned to Italy and founded the eponymous fashion company in the following year. The international breakthrough came after a show at the Pitti-Fashion-Fair in Florence in 1962. His clients included Sophia Loren, Audrey Hepburn, Jacqueline Kennedy, and Sharon Stone. His designs were featured by pure elegance and exclusivity. The fashion designer finds his inspirations in the fine arts. In 1998 Valentino sold his company and gave his farewell form the world of fashion in 2008. Today, the Milan Fashion House is led by the Valentino Fashion Group. (ala)
