Description: 1st millennium AD. A substantial bronze horse and rider figurine on an openwork rectangular base; the horse with reins, halter, crupper and incised hatched panels to the shoulders and withers; the rider with saddle, hatched helmet, quiver over the shoulder, shield to the left hip, holding a bow(?) in the right hand. 425 grams, 95mm (3 3/4"). Property of a Yorkshire, UK, collector; acquired in the 1990s; thence by descent.
