A bronze axehead with flared blade, curved edge, ovoid-section socket with circumferential bands of scroll ornament, two rectangular lateral slots, peacock modelled in the round to the rear; mounted on a custom-made stand. 782 grams, 27cm including stand (10 3/4"). Property of a London gentleman; acquired London art market, 1970-1980.
