Minute de deux lettres au comte de Bulkeley et à son ancienne maîtresse, Madame de Grave (copiées par le secrétaire E).
Au comte de Bulkeley. Il a été « huit jours à la fête » avec Mme de Berwick. La « grande marquise » [Mme de Renel] a quitté Cheverny et « est aux trousses du Duc d'Orléans qui fait son metier de devot en ne la regardant pas et point du tout son métier d'homme juste en lui rendant son bien ». Il a passé douze jours à Chantilly avec Mademoiselle de Clermont, Milord Bolingbroke et « quelque chose de plus politique que lui le Marquis de Matignon. On croit la guerre inevitable parce que nous proposons l'armistice non relativement au plan proposé par les maritimes et que l'empereur ne l'accepte que relativement audit plan, ce qui est different comme le jour et la nuit. Nous espérons que vous gens du Rhein tuerés tous les Moscovites ; on m'écrit de Bordeaux que les marchands anglois et hollandois ont enlevé tous les vins vieux parce qu'ils jugent la guerre inévitable. [...] On dit ici le duc du Maine dangereusement malade »... Montesquieu a noté au bas de sa main : « à Paris le 3 aout 1735 mr de Bocley à larmée du Rhin ».
À Madame de Grave, « Ma belle marquise »... « On croit qu'on n'aura pas la paix nous proposons une suspension d'armes pourvû que ce soit non relativement au plan proposé par l'Angleterre et la Hollande et l'empereur l'accepte pourvû que ce soit relativement audit plan. Ainsi ils ne sont pas plus d'accord que nous l'avons été vous et moi quand je vous ay demandé votre amitié relativement à ce que vous sçavés. Il y a d'ailleurs l'affaire de la Pologne pour laquelle nous demandons aussy suspension ; le pauvre Stanislas nous mande qu'il ne dort ni jour ni nuit quand il songe au sang qu'il a fait verser pour sa triste cause »... Etc. Montesquieu a noté de sa main la date : « à Paris le 3 aoust 1735 », et fait des calculs en marge.

Payment: By exemption, clause 14 from law from the 10th of July 2000 stipulates: «Should the buyer fail to pay the amount due, and after notice to pay has been given by S.V.V.
