In generally fair to good overall condition, the relined canvas having some passages which are slightly difficult to accurately 'read' under u.v. light due to areas with uneven/residual varnish and due to some of the pigments used. Much of the surface of the painting has fine craquelure, and some of these areas with craquelure have been filled in with retouching. There are also some scattered areas of the canvas, generally not large in size, but visible under u.v. light, in which restoration is visible under u.v. light, including: prominent retouching to much of tree at far right; somewhat prominent retouching to parts of cottage at left; and some retouching to parts of some of the figures, along with some retouching to parts of the foreground and other scattered areas. The sky appears somewhat purplish under u.v. light, as do parts of some of trees and other areas, but it is due to the use of pigments which give the appearance of fluorescing, but which do not represent restoration. Overall, the painting has been professionally and skillfully restored in places - generally small, precise, fine restoration - though most of the canvas has not been restored.
Frame: 39 x 55 1/2 x 2 3/4 in.
