Lot 372: CHINESE BLUE AND WHITE MOON VASE WITH BAJIXIANG MOTIF

Description: Sturdily potted vase of flattened globular body, with narrow straight neck below the flat rim, supported on a concave splayed foot oval base. Two scrolling foliate handles flanked from shoulder to the neck. Main body decorated eight petal lappets radiating from a centralized floral medallion, each petal enclosing one of the Eight Buddhist Emblems, bordered with bands of key fret patterns and further smaller lappet petals. The sides and neck interspersed by dense of lotus scrolling foliate. Mark on base, a seal mark, of six blue seal script -ZhuanShu- characters, QianLong Reign Period of Great Qing.
