Lot 1202: CHINESE EXPORT MAKE-DO TEAPOT.
December 2, 2016
Delaware , OH, USALive Auction
CHINESE EXPORT MAKE-DO TEAPOT.
Fourth quarter-18th century. Blue and white porcelain with flowering trees and bird reserves. Beautifully crafted lid hinge and handle, most certainly done by a silversmith. 7.25"h.
It would be our opinion that the make-do repair is nearly as old as the teapot. Given the style and quality of the silversmith work, it appears nearly of the same age.
