Description: CHRIST HEALING THE SICK BY REMBRANDT HARMENSZ VAN RIJN (DUTCH, 1606-1669).
Etching on heavy laid paper, no visible watermark. Circa 1649. Also known as The Hundred Guilder Print. From the Captain Baillie retouched proof. Bartsch 74. Noted on mat: "B 74-R 74 IV". Plate, 11"h. 15.5"w. Sheet 13.75"h. 18.75.

Note:
Inscribed as "Collection of King Ferdinand of Portugal" in ink on The Closson Art Galleries label and in graphite handwriting on mat.

Condition Report: Overall minor toning and mat burn. Not framed or glazed. Old mat and backing with dust cover bearing gallery label accompanies the lot. This crisp, velvety impression appears affected by one-time broken glass. Glass dust visible on surface under lighted examination. Print bears two scratches in surface, one horizontal 3/4 inch long upper right quadrant and one upper left margin measuring 1 3/4 inches. One pin-head sized pigment loss on peasant's cap, lower right margin.
