Estimate: $200 - $300
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 200 BCE to 200 CE. An endearing genre scene beautifully modeled from terracotta depicting a woman grinding corn on her metate. She wears a headdress, ear ornaments, and a pectoral as she dilligently rolls her mano over the corn to provide sustenance for her loved ones. The artist went to great lengths to provide the details of this activity. Note the corn kernels at one end of the metate and the masa on the opposite. Corn was a staple of the ancients of the Americas! Size: 2.5" L x 4.125" H (6.4 cm x 10.5 cm)
