Haci Omer Sabanci who started working on a cotton plantation as a 14-year-old. By 1925 he had begun sharecropping his own land and by 1932 he had saved enough to invest in a cotton gin, Circir Fabrikasi. The profits from that investment allowed him to invest into vegetable oil companies, of which the Toroslar Trading company became the cornerstone of the future Sabanci empire. Nowadays the holding is the second largest of Turkey, posting almost $6 billion in sales per year. It still includes some 75 companies, including 13 publicly listed companies. The family control has loosened to only 57% of the shares and its main interests are banking and insurance, energy (Enerjisa), cement and distribution (Carrefoursa for fast-moving consumer goods and Technosa for electronic products). We have been consigned a possibly unique collection of 185 different shares from 24 Sabanci companies. They are all of modern design and high quality print. Logically, all unissued specimens. The shares of some companies have the facsimile signature of Sabanci family members.
