Fr. MA-175. A historic, politically inspired design Revolutionary War note that is consistently one of the most popular with collectors. Engraved Copper Plate by Paul Revere, Jr. as illustrated in the reference "Paul Revere's Engravings" by Clarence Brigham. There is overall conservation with some deft sealed centerfold area and other splits, scattered repairs primarily at the center, corners and outer marginal edges. This note is well centered both face and back having mostly clear text. It appears Fine in its overall eye appeal. Some of the printed text and designs have been partially redrawn. The reverse side Paul Revere central design displays a Colonial Massachusetts Minutemen with his "Sword in Hand" and a copy of the "MAGNA CHARTA" held in his other hand. A highly patriotic, historic legend located just above him reads, "Issued in defence of American Liberty." As such, this note is a relatively inexpensive and affordable example that is genuine. A scarce, low One Shilling Four Pence denomination "Sword in Hand" note on this most historic Paul Revere engraved issue.
