Description: 23 June 1820 VIRGINIA/KENTUCKY. PARIS. Action de F1300. Serie B. black. No 4217. Folds and one repaired edge-tear. Very large format. Text in French. The share is a land warrant for 100 acres, out of the 1,849,000 acres owned by the company in two U.S. states, Virginia and Kentucky. Very large format, with full set of dividend coupons to 1850. Sold in Paris to potential emigrants. Indeed, an owner of three shares could demand the title deeds to 300 acres of land. The company promised to build the infrastructure for these lands, including flour-mills, saw-mills, plantations for timber for construction, and other commercial and manufacturing activities appropriate to the agriculture and riches of the area. Very early date for such an immigration company. During the 17th and 18th centuries, it is estimated that 400,000 to 1million people, mainly Europeans, immigrated to colonial America. In the early years of the United States, immigration was fewer than 8,000 people a year. After 1820, immigration gradually increased. From 1836 to 1914, over 30 million Europeans migrated the United States. Most interesting and early share - rarity 9.
