Description: The rectangular top with molded edge and blocked ox-bow front projecting above a conforming case of four long graduated drawers, raised on a molded base with ogee blocked feet. The underside of the bureau having a quadrant base with three-sided frame. Heigt 33 inches, top 40 1/2 x 22 3/4 inches, case width 37 1/2 inches. Literature: Similar chests of drawers are discussed in "Connecticut Valley Furniture, Eliphalet Chapin and His Contemporaries, 1750-1800" by Thomas P. Kugelman and Alice K. Kugelman with Robert Lionetti, p. 170, cat. 72.
