Condition / Notes: This is the second edition of this work, considerably enlarged from the scarce first edition of 1882. The antique volume is bound in red cloth covers with stamped gilt lettering on the front cover and spine. There is light rubbing concentrated at the extremities. The binding has been repaired internally with archival tape. The text block is solid.
The armorial bookplate of Colorado railroad historian Francis Rizzari is affixed to the front flyleaf, along with a laid-in signed handwritten slip confirming Rizarri's previous ownership. The frontispiece portrait depicts the author. The pages are clean with light age toning. The work is profusely illustrated with plates (many of which depict arrests and gunfights) as well as textual figures, diagrams, and maps.
The book is protected by a clear mylar dust jacket.
