Description: WHEN THE DALTONS RODE, First Edition, signed and inscribed on the half-title page, "To Mr. Goodman from Emmett Dalton" in black ink, irregular block of toning over signature and inscription from newspaper obituary affixed to opposite page, partial separation along front hinge, mild sunning to spine, mild cover wear, hardback, 8vo , Doubleday, Doran, and Co, 1931 . Dalton was a member of the notorious Dalton Gang in the old American West that specialised in bank and train robberies. Their criminal days ended when they attempted to rob two banks at once in broad daylight, ending in 4 members being killed. Emmett Dalton was the only one to survive that day, despite being shot 23 times. He was jailed for life but was pardoned after serving 14 years .
